Isla was a student at Baradene College in Auckland and is a member of the Whangamata Surf Life Saving Club. In 2023 she was part of the NZ Junior Black Fins for the Battle of the Tasman and won Gold in the U17 Surf Race Relay Team in the SLSNZ Nationals. In 2023 she competed in the NZSS 1st Place Medley Relay team which broke a NZ Open Record. At the 2024 Swimming NZSS nationals Isla was a member of both the 50m Medley Relay and 100m Freestyle relay teams that won gold. At the World Youth Interclub Championships (Sept 2024) in Australia Isla picked up 4 PB's and posted the fastest time in the world for the 100m Manikin tow with fins, earning the right to be named a Junior World Champion.
In March 2025 Isla was one of five New Zealanders to be invited by the world games pool series organisers to race in a pre series competition in Chengdu, China.
