Ivari is a midcourt netball player from Hamilton Girls' High School, she was a member of their premier netball team and named to the tournament team at the Upper North Island Secondary School (UNISS) Championships in 2019.

In 2020, Ivari Christie was selected for the NZ Secondary School netball squad. She received a Tania Dalton Foundation Scholarship in the same year, which paired her with former Silver Fern centurion Leana de Bruin as a mentor.

After high school, Ivari relocated to Invercargill in 2022 after being offered a training partner contract with the Southern Steel. Her talent was quickly recognized, leading to her earning her first full contract at the elite level in 2023, and she returned to play her second season with the Southern Steel in 2024.
