Kilani-Mae attends St Kentigern College, she is a talented young basketball player, who has already achieved so much. She is in the school premier team and won MVP as a Year 10 player as well as representing the Counties Manakau U18 team. In 2024 she was selected for the U15 NZ basketball team for the FIBA U15 Women's Oceania Cup.

Kilani-Mae also plays netball and volleyball and coaches junior basketball as well as mentoring Year 7's at her school. She spent many of her childhood years in France, so is a fluent French speaker, now she enjoys immersing herself in Tongan and Maori culture in the school culture group.
