Shamar is a Basketballer from Mt Maunganui and attends Mt Maunganui College.

She played in the NZ U16 Women’s Basketball team that took out NZ’s first ever FIBA Asia Cup silver medal in September 2025. Shamar also played was also a junior development player for the Tauranga based franchise – Whai- where she featured regularly in the Rapid League competition in the 2025 season. 

In 2026 she represented NZ at the FIBA U17 Women’s Basketball World Cup in the Czech Republic. Competing against the world's best young basketball players, Imani played a key roles in helping NZ achieve a historic 5th-place finish, highest-ever placing by a NZ women's team at a FIBA World Cup event.
