Attended Mount Albert School where she was a two-time captain and two-time league MVP for her high school premiere basketball team. Sharne was named Female Athlete of the Year by her high school and also layed rugby, netball and track & field at Mount Albert. She led her netball team to two championships in NZ. Sharne is a decorated 3x3 Tall Ferns, with two FIBA Asia Cup all-tournament team selections to her name.

Played in the US for the USU Eastern Women's Basketball team.

Played in the Tauihi Professional Women's League for the Christchurch based team - Mainland Pouākai in 2024. Represented Adelaide Lightning for the 2025/2026 Australian WNBL.

Sharne represented New Zealand several times, including  the Trans-Tasman showdown in 2025. Commonwealth silver medal winner playing for the NZ 3x3 basketball team.
