After earning her first full Southern Steel netball contract in 2020, promising young defender Taneisha Fifita spent two years in the Steel line-up before leaving as a 20-year-old on overseas missionary work in 2022.  A shooter through much of her school years at Waitaki Girls High, the 1.85m Fifita had been groomed as a defender in recent years, including for the Southern Blast in the NNL for which she was first selected as a 15-year-old.

Fifita featured consistently in the Steel line-up during their 2020 and 2021 campaigns.  Fifita played for the NZSS team in 2018 and 2019.
