Tara Turner attended Whangarei Girls High School. She was named in the Touch Blacks Open Women's squad to play a test series against Australia in 2020. She also represented Northland at Rugby Union and was part of the Northland Kauri’s FPC Championship winning side in 2023 and was once again part of the nib Blues in the 2024 Super Rugby Aupiki championship season. After an injury she returned to the Blues women team as the starting halfback to help the team claim the Aupiki 2025 title.
